Simian Ghost’s Dream Scapes

Emotion hidden behind layers of laid-back electronica is Simian Ghost's trademark. The trio from Sandviken/Gävle has released an EP, Lovelorn,
to follow up from the debut album, Infinite Traffic Everywhere, which did stormingly well back home,
to great critical acclaim.

Sebastian Arnström's delicate, near-falsetto voice, soars and tumbles around Mathias Zachrisson's guitar and Erik Klinga's drums, weaving a soundtrack
to the chill wave genre that has slight hints of the Beach Boys. In As You See Fit, glass-like tones jangle with a steady beat, creating a mood which is partly childlike and sweet, but with hidden depths and darkness lurking behind.

Arnström wanted the seven songs on Lovelorn to reflect being recorded at home, in his messy living room. 'It’s the kind of stuff I do when I get home from work, or from rehearsal, personal stuff,' he says. 'The song Gently Submissive, for example, has a very soft quality to it, mainly because I recorded it in the middle of the night, and I didn't want to wake up the neighbours. I really find that nice, when very tangible stuff like that creeps into the music.'

Simian Ghost's new EP reverberates with both dreamy songs and a lurking darkness.
